Italian Serie A football club AC Milan is releasing a new collection of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) after partnering with Solana-based esports brand MonkeyLeague.
Being the first football club to partner with MonkeyLeague, the new NFT partnership will bring all kinds of perks and benefits to fans of the successful club. Fans can mint Rossoneri-branded wearables while they also get special access to tournaments, playtesting the game for example.
Casper Stylsvig, chief revenue officer of AC Milan, said in the announcement:
“We are thrilled to kick off this partnership with MonkeyLeague, a collaboration that allows us to strengthen our positioning in the field of digital innovation.”
It is not a first move for AC Milan into crypto and NFTs. The club, made big by legendary players such as Gianni Rivera, Franco Baresi, Paolo Maldini and Marco van Basten, in 2021 launched its AC Milan Fan Token (ACM) on popular fan engagement platform Socios.com.
Earlier this year, AC Milan partnered with the hugely popular NFT collectibles and Fantasy Football Manager Game, Sorare.
